So we all know how boring life can get as an end-game player. I have created a new challenge for myself, which is my very own Race to Twine.
I participated in a discussion on Reddit a while ago about how quickly you could get to Twine WITHOUT getting any kind of carry through the game.
(We all know how quickly you can get there if you’re being carried - very quickly as this example shows, where somebody went from tutorial to legendary perked mythic storm king weapon in 12.5 hours)
So the other day, when I had a day to spare and was a bit bored, I created a free account on my XBox and got started. I plan to post updates as I finish each zone, and for those who are interested will maybe keep a blog of each day’s progress on my website, which I will link in the comments. I have also been recording my missions, so I might pull together a video at some point.
Here are my rules for the challenge:
No carries, which means no being taken into difficult missions by higher level players to enhance quest progress or get resources I wouldn't be able to access on my own (including asking for help on Discord or other similar platforms, for my existing missions)
No VBucks purchased
No accepting substantial handouts, e.g. a high level player dropping me a bunch of high level traps. The occasional small donation is acceptable.
Go as fast as you can. I can rush SSDs if I want, but I need to trap and build for them, not get carried through.
Only play for substantial periods at a time, and do not log on to the account any time in between those periods. I am trying to see how quickly the game can be rushed through, but I don’t have a huge chunk of consecutive time to do it, just the odd day here and there. What I’m planning to do is play one day a week for the whole day, and not log on to the account any time between that (so I don’t benefit from repeated daily log ins, llama checks, research points, expeditions etc. on those other days).
I will be recording my progress at the end of each zone, and also writing a short blog for each day that I play. I hope that you enjoy hearing about my journey! It has certainly reinvigorated my enjoyment of this game, which I guess was one of the main points of the whole endeavour.
